Any place to race small street bikes in CA?
« on: December 28, 2012, 08:43:33 AM »
I'd like to do a bit of racing.
Are there any tracks or clubs around the SF Bay who do small displacement spec racing? Like Ninja 250s for example.
I checked Willow, Laguna, Sears, and a few others - Seems like eveything around here is all about superbikes. I don't do super bikes.
Looks like there's a small displacement vintage series up in Portland - which looks REALLY cool - but that's too damn far.
Ideally I'd LOVE to race something like a Dream 50R. YouTube has some vids of Japanese guys buzzing around on those little 7hp wonders. That looks like a LOT of fun. But of course we can't do that here...
So, any ideas?

do you have bucket racing, a fun way to get out on the track and not cost a fortune. http://youtu.be/1WZAyeC8S2Q

Are you looking for a place to race your Ninjette in particular, or just a small bike?

Chuckwalla has a large Ninja 250 community. Willow Springs has a class for Ninja 250, IIRC.

No, not a Ninja 250 specifically, just something small, cheap, and slow.

Re: Bucket racing - man, that would be PERFECT! But I've never seen anything like that around here...

I just found some stuff on the AFM site. I'll have to look deeper once I get out of work and The Man isn't watching.

How many AHRMA events are at those tracks in your area?...they should have a 250cc class at most events?  There is also WERA and maybe one other vintage racing org. but not sure who does what in your area...
If it works good, it looks good...
