Cleaning and polishing alloy parts

Ok would like some opinions on what is best to use to clean old motors and or wheels ready for paint ?

and opinions on soda blast - sand blast and hydro blast ?

Hydro blasting comes out the nicest in my opinion, but if you want a mirror image you will have to end up sanding it with wet and dry before buffing.

I sanded some engine cases down to 1500 grit, then buffed it and it came out nice

Give Wayne Jacobson a ring , he does concourse restoration stuff and has an excellent blasting service, i have seen alloy engines 5 years after blasting and they looked as good as the day they were done, he does anything from Ferrari blocks to home projects and is a nice guy as well....   Send me a PM and i'll send you his number, he's at Jimboomba....
