Cb550 kerker 4 into 1 exhaust.
« on: December 30, 2012, 01:22:52 PM »
Hey everybody.  It's been a while since I posted anything but here goes.

I have a kerker 4 into 1 header pipe on my 550 and I'm torn between buying a legit kerker megaphone or building a straight baffle in the header.  Does anyone have experience with either of these?  And honesty what's the likelyhood of me
Finding a can and at what price?

Cheers all, always a pleasure reading up.

John.

I think you will be hard pressed to find a Kerker muffler.

That bad hey?  Are there any close replacements available?  Making my own short baffle is my last resort.

Baffles are easy and cheap to build.  Much easier and cheaper than finding a Kerker.  Fab one up, they put a permanent search on ebay to get emails when one becomes available.

From what I've researched making a new baffle is pretty straight forward, the hardest part for me though is removing the old baffle from my Mac 4/1. I haven't put in a sincere effort to remove it yet but so far it's obvious that it's not going to come out easy.

Use a long bolt with a pair of vice grips on the threaded end as a puller.

The head will catch the inside far end of the baffle and you can tap it right out....slide hammer style.
