Hows about a good book? all things mechanical
« on: January 05, 2013, 07:03:23 AM »
I usually don't read books that much unless I'm trying to learn something however I did read a book that was thoroughly funny yet fell into the category of all things mechanical and it was "the best damn garage in town" by Smokey Yunik. He's best known for his exploits in the early years of NASCAR but it turns out that's just the tip of the iceberg. I've read other books about people like Carroll Shelby which was pretty good as well but Smokey had me laughing out loud as I was reading. Anybody have any other ideas for a book?

"No. We're all our own prisons, we are each all our own wardens and we do our own time. I can't judge anyone else. What other people do is not really my affair unless they approach me with it. Prison's in your mind. Can't you see I'm free"?  Testimonial of Charles Manson

Got it already and it is a must have book. Informational value = priceless, entertainment value = zip. Sorry Mark if your reading this but you're just TOO nice, honest ...... all around great guy to be "entertaining". That is meant to be a compliment you know? :) I'm just now splitting the cases of a 750 for the first time, I didn't touch the cases until I had his book and my eyes have been glued to it since.

sounds pretty entertaining to me...try to find a copy of Stealing Speed by Matt Oxley, it's a true history dealing with Nazi rocket scientists, spys, the Cold War, 1960's Motogp...story of the modern two-stroke engine.
If it works good, it looks good...

"The Vincent in the Barn" or "The Harley in the barn" by Tom Cotter.  MC barnfind short stories. I preferred the second one.
