Questions re grafting a 2007 Honda CBR600RR front onto a CB750K
« on: December 31, 2012, 10:46:58 AM »
Ok.  I pulled the trigger on a 2007 Honda CBR1000RR front end (forks, triples, brake calipers, discs).  Now I need a checklist on what I will need to get it to mate with my CB750K2 frame.  I know that the triples are the correct diameter to fit the frame, but that the stem will need to be modified (too short or too long?).

I have done some searching on the forum, and looked at Alan's frame swap string and documents on the Suspension forum, but can someone (preferably someone who's done the swap) give me a checklist (spoon-feed me) as to what specifically I will need to do?  My rough understanding is that the steering stem is not the correct length, that I will need adapters machined for the modern discs to mount to the old hub, and that I may to have the new axle modified.  Can someone give me a specific "laundry list" and any tips/suggestions on the best way to accomplish it -- example should swap out the original steering stem or modify the modern one (and how)?

i did a similar swap on my cb550 but i used a gsxr front end there is a website called all balls racing they sell the bearings for every conversion, if u plan on running the spoke wheel in the front look into a harley davidson wheel that can carry 2 disc i believe its the super glide and its a 18 or 19in wheel from there you would have to figure something out about adapting wheel bearings or modify the axle i used a f3 wheel on frontend i used the stock f3 axle then machined some bushing, spacer to fit the gsxr forks dont forget to check you throttle cables a way to mount a headlight clearance for the forks so they dont hit the tank maybe this will help
