For you guys who spend more time talking than actually working on bikes, whether your camshafts ride in "Cam Towers" or directly in the cylinder head, the contact area where the camshaft/s bearing journals are located, are referred to universally as the "Cam Bearings".
On SOHC4's and many other bikes, when the material is damaged or worn beyond serviceable limits, it's basically a "throw away" deal, but a good engineering shop can mill out, and shrink in, new bearings. I don't think PJ was being sarcastic, he was just using a term common amongst mechanics, but probably alien to folks who aren't. Cheers, Terry.
