1977 CB550F handlebars

Hi guys. I must admit I'm not sure if this is the proper place for this post so please feel free to correct me if necessary.

I'm in the middle of a CB550f restoration and I just discovered my handlebars are tweaked. I've seen posts on the net that say replace, don't repair. I'm not sure why repair is a bad idea as it seems failure of the handlebars would be a gradual thing (if its going to happen at all) as opposed to a catastrophic failure that would pose a safety issue.

If I am going to replace them, I'm going to need to get a set that's in perfect, un-repaired condition. If anyone out there has a set, please message me. If repair isn't an option, I'll be in the market for one.

What do you mean 'tweaked'? The danger is internal rust that you can't see. You are bombing through a corner with weight on the bars, hit a bump and crack the bar breaks and then crack so do you.

Bars are cheap, just replace them.

Are you committed to an all original bike for show purposes? If not then you might consider going with an aftermarket set. ON my '77 550K I replaced the stock bars with a Bikemaster Superbike bar. It was about 2 inches lower than stock, so I had a nice slight forward lean that was easy on the back while still alleviating the 'sail in the wind' affect of the more upright stock bars at highway speeds.
