Newbie here!
I just picked up an '81 CB650 Custom original survivor. Great find! Stored from 1997 to 2007. Only 14,250 original miles.
There are some "mystery wires" coming out of the back of the headlight housing that aren't connected to anything.
First, here's a pic of the bike:
Here's a pic of the mystery wires:
The larger brown sheath has two wires in it, one red and one white. Then the single white wire is also there. These are all small gauge, maybe 18 or 20 gauge. I have not yet opened the headlight housing, but I'll do that next. Haven't had time to polish any of the chrome yet, but no rust on it anywhere. I'm just starting to clean her up and check things over.
I removed a small Rifle fairing from the bike, so I'm temporarily missing the front turn signals, but I bought a nice set on eBay that are on the way to me. That black bracket in the second pic is for the fairing mount.
Everything electrical on the bike works, so I'm wondering if anybody knows what these wires might be for. Is the headlight housing a popular place to tap off of for accessory wiring? If so, maybe that's all these were... some wires for an accessory that aren't on the bike anymore.
Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks.
