Well, I got home from my long work stretch yesterday afternoon. The first thing I did is go straight from the airport to the powdercoat guy to pick up my frame, swingarm, and stands. He had called me earlier and said that he did not have the black that I had requested. He had one step glossier and one step less glossy. So, I elected for the more satin sheen. It came out looking OK but I would have preferred the color that I had requested. The price was pretty decent though, I paid $140.00 for everything in the pictures. This is the first time that I have not painted a frame myself but it was hard not to have someone else powdercoat it for the price. He did all the degreasing and sandblasting. All I had to do was drop them off and pick them up. What a huge time saver.

the photos show a little more gloss than is really there.

Next up....I received my hardware back from the plater. It came out pretty decent, but there are a few parts that I will have to redo with my Caswell plating kit. I think this place was more of a volume operation as opposed to quality control. Only one piece is missing, the rear brake plate that fits over the two pins inside the rear brake assembly. I will see if they can come up with it, but I don't expect they will.

And sorting the parts out using the tracings and measurements of everything I sent in. It sure helped having everything organized before I sent them in. I had everything sorted by component in a few hours.

I ordered a lot of parts while I was on the road. More than I am going to list, but here are some pictures.

One of the reasons I parked the bike back in 1989 was the fact that it would randomly blow the main fuse. So I ordered a new wiring harness from partsnmore. This is going to be really nice to work with.

WOW ed, that powdercoating came out fantastic! at this point I am 90% sure I am going to buy some more clear and clear over the black bits I did. the eastwood frame paint is not very durable and I kind of want it shiny now

keep the updates coming! I am at a halt for a few days because I have a music gig tomorrow and saturday and have been practicing a lot

i love getting new parts! its like christmas around here for me, I just got my tank badges, side cover badges, and new gas cap. i need to update.....too much music

Thanks Tews, I may still be interested in working a deal on that seat if you still have it. i need to try to save a few bucks here and there.

I think everything in the photos is either from partsnmore or cb750.com The harness was $75.00. Spokes were from partsnmore also. Comparing the new spokes to the originals......The thicker butted end of the spokes are the same at 4mm diameter. the smaller diameter longer area of the spokes are actually thicker on the new spokes....3.47mm as opposed to 3.13mm on the originals. The spokes are colorless silver and the nipples have just a hint of yellow/gold color to them. I am pleased with them as the price was $35.00 a wheel.

Wierd, but one set says made in Japan and one says made in Taiwan but the look identical

I used to have a part time photography business. The background is a 10 foot wide roll of thick white paper used for studio backdrops. The roll hangs across two poles and unrolls to the ground with a gentle continuous curve. I used a 3x4 foot softbox and 1 studio strobe for the light. It's a pain to set up, but if I have a few shots to do I will drag it out. Ideally I should have used more than one light, but these are just for me so good enough.

Hey Ed - great deal on the powder coat job. I think you made the right decision, frames that are too glossy don't look original to me, of course if that's the look you want, then a different story.

Your making us look bad, we now have to set up back drops and lighting for our photo shoots?!
Guess I need to shop for a SLR now too?

Ha Ha Steve, I only use it because I happen to have it around

I still actually use it for compensation sometimes too.

The gloss in the pictures is about where I would like it but the photos show more gloss than there is. I agree with not having a frame "too" glossy for the same reasons as you. All in all though, it does look pretty good. What a timesaver it was. It seems that I have been working so much to pay for parts and other life needs, that time on the bike has been limited.

Another roadblock. I was going to clean up, sandblast and powdercoat the lower tripple tree today. When I cleaned the grease of the bearing race I found this.....ugh. The race was destroyed which would not have been a big deal because I have an allballs tapered kit to put in. The nasty part is that the stem is chewed up and bent as well. I think the fact that the stem is bent is why the bearing assembly failed. Hmmm, I wonder if that happened when I endo'd the bike thirty years ago.

Anyone have a spare laying around? Tews......anyone?

You may be able to salvage that. I've had a few gauges in mine as well. I let my moms husband who is a cnc guy clean it up. Do you have the unicorn triple? Sounds dumb but I've run into issues with a wider stem on my first k1. I'm pretty sure I have a correct k1 lower stem that I'm not using. I will look and let you know

This came from my Gold K1. I wasn't sure if it was salvageable. I'm sure it is as its only the stop that is bent. If you can fix or if you want to leave as is and ride let me know.

Does anyone have a set of front wheel bearings they can measure up for me? My old bearings are 1.653 OD .592 ID and .51 wide. The allballs kit I received has 1.852 OD .67 ID and .55 wide. Al measurements are in inches. Either My hub is not the correct hub or Allballs sent had the wrong bearings in the kit.

What is your All Balls kit number? It should be 25-1307 for the front.
