'77 CB550F Carbs
« on: January 22, 2013, 08:49:05 AM »
Somebody refresh my memory. It seems to me that the F model didn't get the carbs that the K model did. That the '77 F has the same carbs as the '76 and earlier K's.

I am going to look at a basket case '77 550F tonight (because building a new bicycle, sorting out the fueling issues with my '77 GoldWing and the ongoing improvements to my '72 MGB GT aren't keeping me busy enough) and I am just doing some research on parts as my goal would be on the road by the Classic MC show at Road America June 8/9 or Chicago Mods vs Rockers the following weekend.

Yes, that's what the one I just bought has in the box, with the 2 fuel inputs rather than the single line in that my '77 550K had.

All the Fs had the early style carbs as depicted above.   Each carb mount flange has 069A on the top right side, it specify it's unique internal jetting/adjustments for the F.  This primarily matters if you are using the stock induction and exhaust system.  Modify those and the stock internal setup won't work well.

Well, based on what i saw in the box o'parts that comes with the bike, it was previously running pods, so no airbox. The 4-1 is also not the stock exhaust. It appears to be a Mac.

I am going to track down a stock airbox. I haven't decided what to do about the exhaust, but the vision I have in my head for this bike includes a 4-2 exhaust rather than the original 4-1.
