Topic: Rear Brake Shoes

I am trying to remove the shoes from my rear drum and am having some difficulties.  I figured I would stop before I mess something up and ask a question:

I ordered new OEM shoes for it, will they come with springs?  I can't seem to get the springs off of the old ones in order to remove them.  Am I going at this in the wrong way?

You did not say what bike. Yes, I bought rear shoes from Dennis Kirk and they came with new springs.  Usually you can use a strong plier to unhook the springs. Or you can lever the shoes apart at the bottom and pull them out.

I've always opened the shoes with the springs attached, to where they clear the cam, then lever them up and off.

Install opposite. Springs go on the shoes first, then muscle the pair onto the posts and cam.

This is exactly the way to deal with the rear shoes!
