This is an old thread and problem I sure has been fixed. This is problem is very sililar to my '72 CL350. When taking off from a stop there is a slip or clunk in the clutch area. Bottom line, the rivets attaching the gear to the clutch basket were loose. It would only be felt when taking of when there is high torque demand to the rear wheel.
I hope you fixed the problem.

The rivets are probably fine. There is a hard rubber bushing in there that has probably decomposed. The rivet goes through the center of the bushing and had worn a slot in it as the bushing aged.

I ride with minimum use of 2nd gear, the fix is in rebuilding the transmission and I want to build my K3F before I take apart the K0.
K3F is going slowly due to limited funds, but you can ride without using 2nd much

Interesting, the rivets seem to be tight, I thought there might be rubber or a spring behind the plate.
I have another housing I'm going to try.
thanks for the info.

What kind of shocks installed on the bike? If they are the stock style is the pre load at minimum or maximum? Is there a fender or fender liner clearance issue?
