Cant seem to find these parts anywhere. What do you guys recommend for replacements for #19 and #21. My air box i bought off flea-bay didnt have em.

If that's anything like the 550, #19 is just a piece of foam and #21 is a mesh or wire grid. You could probably fab something up. Check out lawn mower filter elements.

I plan to cut a piece of ScotchBrite to fit in my 400's airbox. The screen is still there.

don't use scotchbrite.

the abrasive used in scotchbrite is not firmly attatched, and the use of scotchbrite is not allowed when overhauling an engine as the residual abrasive is destructive. I wouldn't take the chance that some would get sucked into the intake.

+1 maintenance section at Home Depot should provide something to work with.

I don't have one yet, but it's on the list. I believe several forum members have used it with good results.

Ok guys i need your help. Anyone who has part #21 can you please take pics of it and also pics of placement in airbox. I would also appreciate some dimensions if possible. I got a piece of sheet mental and im gona try to fab it. Please. Also if anyone has a piece of that foam thing. I would like a pic of that

Does the plate dip into or raise over the tray in the air box. or, Basically in the pics is how it goes into the box, Correct? Hard to tell in last pic. Thanks again, exactly what i needed.

The parts diagram in your first post shows the positioning pretty well. In my second photo (side view) the edge closest to my palm should hook over the forward edge of the "tub" that contains the filter.

What are you gona do about the filter #19 (foam thingy). Does anyone have a photo of a stock one?

I'm not sure how I'll solve that problem. The foam filter in my 400's airbox had dissolved long ago.

I *think* that the filter was there so that oil would have something on which to condense. It would not seem likely that crankcase vapors need to be filtered. If that analysis is correct, then two or three layers of metal window screen might do the job. (SohRon, please step in if I'm wrong.)

It's just foam. No more than a few bucks for a piece of lawnmower filter at Lowes or Sears and you'll have enough for extra, probably. It just acts a separator for the oil vapors.

The breather gasket is the last piece of the puzzle. If anyone know where i might find one please let me know. David Silver Spares sells em but is outa stock until Feb. And i wana ride so................

I just pulled the gasket out of mine. It needs to be replaced. So, I found an old bicycle inner-tube, and traced the old gasket. Using a leather punch, I had a replacement in about two minutes. Because a motorcycle tube would be thicker and have less curvature, it would be a better material.
