73 cb500 clutch plate vs. disks
« on: January 20, 2013, 06:41:31 AM »
Can someone please tell me how many clutch plates and disk there should be in the clutch basket of my 73 cb500.  While replacing the broken push rod I noticed that there are 7 plates and 7 disks.   In this order from frame out - plate, disk, plate, disk, plate, disk, plate, disk, disk, plate, disk, plate, disk, plate.   If anyone has knowledge of this pleas school me!

Dkirk,

Here are two major sources for information you may find useful.
http://www.honda4fun.com/materiale-documentazione-tecnica/shop-manual
Scroll down to the Honda Shop Manual CB500 - 550. P.40-42 deals with the clutch.
Then there's the Parts List, to be found at http://www.honda4fun.com/materiale-documentazione-tecnica/parts-list/parts-list-cb500
The first one covers your model.
Welcome to the forum.

Brycegp and Deltarider,  thank you for your help.  It is greatly appreciated!  After further inspection I found that one of the plates looked like two but was actually one piece.  I will however bookmark your sites for future use!  Thanks again!
