460 pistons
« on: January 09, 2013, 02:39:22 PM »
Hi

Parcel just arrived from Japan with these nice pistons in. I also got a headgasket with them.
No makers name but they look ok. £80 odd quid plus customs & excise & "handling charge"
Could not find any Yoshimura pistons & want to get the bike out there.
Thoughts?

ps Gerrit I have given a set ofthe rods you suggested to my engineer to look at.

I have a set of what are likely the same that I'm considering using. I'll be watching this thread to see how it goes for you.
'75 cb400f, '77 cb550f , CB160 road racer, '88 Hawk GT track bike, FZR400 race bike, and a bunch of old hondas in boxes.

I've recently noticed these on ebay and would have dived straight in for a set had I not picked up a NOS Yoshimura 54.5mm piston kit.
I was wondering how these compare - they're a sight cheaper than a Yoshimura kit - even at the good price I paid for mine.

nice, good squish area/ring built in there,

make sure to make the combustion chamber match it to 0.8mm or so and you'll be able to run some high CR numbers

I'm using them although I'm still in the build process. I've heard good things from others who are running these. Check my build-in-progress link in my signature.

Hi
Nice Kyre.
I like to build them they way you are. However I have found that I need to "get them out there" asap cos if I dont they never seem to leave the garage as I always find one more nice bit to buy & fit.
Keep it up!
Hope to run therace bike in June!!!

Chris
