Topic: Frozen Kick Start

I  have a Honda CB360T, 1975. Rides great, works fine.  Worked fine yesterday.  This morning, started it with the electric start (as i always do). Engine would turn, but not start. Tried this a few times.  No dice.  Turned it all off. Opened the throttle, pumped kick start several times. done this before and it's worked fine with the engine turning over with the electric starter.  So I turned everything back on. Electric start would not even turn the engine.  Just a click.   Nothing would happen. Tried kick start. Kick start won't move. It's frozen now. Won't move.  Pulled in the clutch and the kick moves freely.Took spark plugs out.  kick start still won't budge (except for a little free movement at the top).

Any ideas on what happened and how to repair it?

The kicker on my 550 is geared through the tranny, so pulling in the clutch actually disengages the kicker.  That would explain the kicker working with the clutch pulled in.  Otherwise, it sounds like something is bound up in the tranny, but I'm just guessing on that.

I can't help you with your bike's problem.  Mostly, because it has two few cylinders to be in the tech forum for an SOHC4 Honda.

Maybe someone else can help you.  But, it really ought to be done in the "other bikes" forum.

'Normal' faults on 360, cam siezed in head, clutch bolt loose and hit cover (cam bolts do same thing sometimes) dont remember having any clutch problems, even with modded engines
remove a rocker covers from left side and try to look in head.(are rockers dry and does it smell 'funny'?)  take off points  cover and see if there is oil puddle in there (if so cam bearings went out and busted seal) take plugs out and se if there are marks on cylinder. You may be really lucky and just have a hydrolocked engine (probably not though as you said it turned over slow)
BTW this is other bikes (unless someone moved it before I found it?)

I have fixed (TEMPORARY) this problem a few times by putting it on the center stand and twisting the rear wheel with a chain wrench and tapping (lightly) on the kick starter input shaft. I had a 750 F motor do something similar. It locked the kick starter but would start normally. With a bit help it eventually did start working.
