Honda CB500R twin anyone ride one?
« on: March 04, 2014, 05:09:41 PM »
I have been thinking of trading my SV1000S in for a Honda CB500R.  I want a more of a distance riding bike.  The SV is great, but my body can't handle the long days on the SV.

Has anyone rode one?
I need it to handle in the tight stuff,  as well as a  CB550 or even my GIXXER.  Will it fit the bill?

1978 CB750A (upgrading very, very slowly)

Past bikes - Honda: SL350, CX650C, CB900C, CB1000C, CM450A; Kawasaki: several 1972 750 H2's; Suzuki: TC90J.

Bikes I want: CX650ED, a mid-sized japanese V-twin with ABS.

Good read on the the bike.  I had not read that one.  If I can get a test ride, if the weather ever melts the ice and snow,  I will see if it suits my needs.  The other 500's may be worth a look.

Thanks for posting the  link.

I bought one last summer. The article posted is spot on. Coming from a sv1000, you may want for more power. I'm happy with mine

Power is good, but I do have an 86 750 GIXXER that has similar performance as the SV.
I want a newer bike so I can use electric clothing.  The older Hondas just don't put out enough watts.  The Gerbing stuff is great.  Had the jacket for almost 20 years and still works very well.
Test ride when it gets warmer.
