Nominate for Bike Of The Month - February 2013
« on: January 14, 2013, 12:35:13 PM »
It's Nominatin' Time!

January 2013 BOTM Voting Thread - http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=116323.0

Congratulations BillBentON Racing for being the January 2013 BOTM winner!

I will let this run until about 1/25/13 and then start the voting thread.  Hopefully this will be enough time to get at least two nominations.  I will extend if needed.  I am trying to squeeze things up to get back on track.

Please Nominate, Second and Accept using those words.  It makes it easier for me to setup the voting threads.  It gets cryptic at times.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Yanno, I don't know what to say because this is a look I did not expect to see and to me, it looks very well done.

That is a beautiful bike, and such a refreshing change from all the Cafe Racers. Back in the 1970's when "Iron Horse" magazine was created to showcase all the Jap choppers, there was a beautiful CB750 based chop with a similar "Harley-esque" look, and I fell in love with it. I might have to build one just like it! Cheers, Terry.  ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Bill,

Thanks. Long time coming and a true labor of love for the baby that I bought new in '75. This will be the final reincarnation. Can't afford this more than once. I think I'll take her for her first ride in a couple years on Sunday/tomorrow/in few hours. Keep all fingers crossed! As far as pictures go I'll clean her up and see what I can do. My videographer is on another assignment tomorrow so I won't be able to post the ride. It's original blue as we speak and probably will be for her test run but I haven't decided if she'll be Flake Sunrise Orange or Candy Sapphire Blue for her unveiling. Do I go with a stock seat or the Corbin seat? I'll do all! Questions without answers.  ::)

Tin Lizzie is some stiff competition. That's a great custom job! Congratulations for the dedication and hard work.

Well boys Bill put the heat on me. Nothing like a kick in the ass to get back into the garage. When I first fired it up I was having a clutch issue (me, not the clutch  ;) so I backed off and walked out of the garage. Then the cold Colorado weather started rolling in. I got 5 gallons of kerosene for my heater and warmed up the garage. Immediately went to snapping off a 6mm bolt in the lifter arm. I got the clutch issue sorted out, gassed her up, and just did her inaugural 5 mile ride. NOS speedo now shows 5.6 miles. I gotta say it is beyond my wildest dreams! It's just amazing how well the whole bike operates. Smooth, quiet and QUICK.

Now that she runs and runs well I will gladly accept Bill's nomination.

I'll post up some pix and info tomorrow  ;D

Uhh, I believe the protocol here is you must have a second nomination, Jerry, before you can accept. ;)
I'll second your NOS rebuild! ;D

5 years collecting parts new and NOS from 9 countries. Got tired of that so I decided it was time. 1+ years assembly. Slow but sure. I'm still missing a few NOS parts I'd like to have but I haven't given up looking  :D My guesstimation is this bike is 90%+ new/NOS and now has 6 miles on the NOS speedo in addition to the ~ 31,000 miles I put on it since buying it new in 1975. It has amazed me over the last 2 days/6 miles how smooth and perfect it feels. I can't wait to turn the new 900 high performance engine loose. It feels real strong.

Here's a few shots I took today. Hope they come out OK. Too bad I couldn't take them together  ;) It's impossible though, same bike in both color skins.

Original color Candy Sapphire Blue

Flake Sunrise Orange edition

Engine shots

There is MUCH that went into this and I'd be glad to go into more specifics or details. Just ask or pm. With all the take off parts being good with slight wear and tear that I have I will be building a second bike beginning this year. I'll only need very few parts plus it'll be more modified. Should be fun.

Hell yeah.....we want to know what's in that engine?  ;D Bill

What was a Yoshi kitted 812 is now:
900 Henry Abe kit - NOS fitted with 3 piece oil rings - not sure about the compression, probably 10.5:1
900 Honda cylinder base o-rings - thanks to Big Jay for the taper  :)
APE lightened and balanced crank - Big Jay also did the cylinders for me
Carrillo rods - again thanks to Big Jay
Fast by Gast tranny
APE studs top and bottom
Mofo Stage IV head by JMR aka Mike Rieck - Fully ported with 5mm Kibblewhite stem conversion valve kit which includes new bronze guides, new viton stem seals, 34mm stainless intakes, stock size 28mm stainless exhaust, heavy duty springs, titanium retainers
Megacycle 125-75 cam with APE adjustable sprocket
Heavy Duty Tsubaki Camilla cam chain with KA tensioner
Standard new Honda primary chains and roller
All new gaskets and seals including MLS head and cylinder gaskets
Dyna 2000 ignition with 3ohm dyna coils
CR31 Keihin carbs
Chrome by Browns
Kerker exhaust
Powder coated engine with black base coat and satin clear coat - head sprayed with PJ1 satin black - oil pan, oil filter housing, and clutch cover powdered with metallic silver and satin clear powder
All new Honda bolts top and bottom with polished stainless allen heads on the covers

Am I missing anything? It just needs a few miles and a dyno  ;D which are non-existent around these parts

That's beautiful Jerry! But next time can you move that fugly-arsed F out of the way mate, it's blocking all the shots of your new Vette!

Ha ha, just kidding mate, as much as I hate to admit it, it might have taken you years to do it, but you made an F look good, so well done! Cheers, Terry. ;D
