'79 CB 650 carb
« on: July 21, 2006, 11:30:31 AM »
I've dusted off my 650 and got a local mechanic to start fiddling with it.  He can't get the carbs quite right and says I need to find a good set somewhere.  It's my understanding that the '79 has a fairly unique set of carbs. Are they or will carbs from another year or model bolt right up???

I would appreciate the guideance,,, I've got a set in mind from ebay but I want to be sure I get the right ones.  What are the identification on them that I should be looking for?

Thanks

Welcome to the site. 8)

The only carbs that will fit your 79 650 is the Keihin PD50 or PD51.  Later US models got CV carbs, but they will not fit your model unless you replace the cylinder head from a later model as well. The reson is the difference in the spacing between the intake ports.

There are two sets up for sale on Ebay btw.

And another one. Even if the seller claims they are from a 1982 model, these carbs, the PD 50BARK7,  are the ones used on your model:
