BTW, you may want to check the red sidecover badges.  They appear to be mounted on the wrong cover,  the left wing on the right cover, etc.

Nice catch Stickman, good eye's  8)
Nice color with the stock theme.

Price was kind of unique to my situation - I had planned on doing it myself, and got as far as stripping the tank/side covers and doing the body work.  After doing more reading it became clear a candy job is pretty optimistic for first time paint work.  Having watched portions of the job I can vouch for that.  I was able to knock the quote down some having brought the parts in almost ready for paint.  For a tank and covers straight off the bike he would be favorably comparable to the quote from vintagehonda.  Took me a few months to decide and pony up that kind of cash, but having scored a decent deal on the bike I figured worth the money given the ebay prices I've been seeing over the last year or so.

It cost me over $300 in material to paint my bike this year.   If you get a quote for candy paint at $350 you may want to be careful. Most often in life you get what you pay for.

This was for freedom green. Seems like the neglected color of the lot, maybe not as much as the garnet brown.

Curious what that paint job ran you? I'm interested in repainting my tank over the winter and have gotten number of quotes.

Same here, I got a quote from vintagehondapaints for close to 900. . .  I'll probably go local and have them try and match it from what I have.  Local guy here said he could match it and paint for closer to 350.
I think that even $350 is insane for just a tank. I've gotten my VW GTI front bumper (custom), rear valance and side-skirts painted for less than $200. Local kid did them and the job was immaculate.

I agree that it is expensive but paint prodcuts are expensive.  You have to buy: sandpaper (several different grits), blocks, primer, paint and clear.  Oh yeah don't forget that you need activator and hardener for the primer, paint and clear.  Oh yeah don't forget that they each take a different activator and hardener.    That is a lot of cans or product.  Then you need at least two buffing compounds.

The only way to get a "deal" on this is if someone already has all the products and you are only paying for "portions" of it.  It can be done, you just need to find a shop that has it on the shelf.  Maybe they just painted something similar to what you want.
