Headlight Brackets for Modern Fork Swap
« on: January 23, 2013, 04:46:28 PM »
For my next project, I am fitting a 2008 CBR600RR front onto a CB750K2 Frame.  I am trying to find out what my best options are for headlight brackets/ears to mount the headlight onto the modern forks.  The largest brackets I've found are 41mm, which are the size of my new fork tubes but not the larger portion of the upside-down fork legs that are at the top part of the fork/triple clamp area.

What solutions have people used who have done the fork swap to a modern front end??

I just finished making brackets that bolt to the lower triple using it's pinchbolts. Off to powdercoat tomorrow.

Sorry for the bad pics.

Nice job, Matt.

It looks like there is no off-the-shelf solution and that I will need to have some brackets fabricated.

Thanks. They were fairly easy to make. The hard part was getting two that match with my limited tools and ability. ::)

You could try stainless steel T-bolt clamps and fabed up some custom headlight mounts like this.
These where so easy to make that you can easily play around with angles and dimensions till you get the right setup.
The T-bolt clamps also come in many sizes so this should work for any fork diameter.

AHawks,

Thanks for the link.  That's a great looking solution to the problem.  Jimmy's is far cheaper, of course!!

Im at the same point in my project, and picket up a headlight bracket from a late 90's ducati monster. They had the inverted fork, but the bracket comes up from the center of the lower triple...

Im going to have to tap the lower triple and add a spacer.
