73 750 side oil bolt spinning but not going anywhere
« on: June 27, 2006, 07:53:30 PM »
I have changed my oil before... but this time I turned the bolt the wrong way and it turned and kept turning and now it spins both directions and won't go in or out.

THIS IS THE SIDE OIL BOLT on a 750 like in my bike pic... bottom of that right side cover.

So.. the threads are stripped? what now?

Another oil tank off eBay?
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

hmmm that;s a good idea, looks like I can get one for $10 on ebay.  I will call the local cycle salvage places and see.

Thanks Bob

Don't go shopping too quick - I think I have a 750 oil tank in my parts bin.  Free for you  ;D  We can install it in the CNE grounds if you like.

TIN TIN is the man.  So sweet to deliver the tank and all.

BUT!  there is a problem.  I got the tank off and realized the hoses at the back were different than the tank I had on.  Mine has a breather tube (?) near the bottom (small tube) and another tube (about 1/3-1/2in) that runs in at the top.

The tank TINTIN picked up has no tube at the top, and the larger tube lower down... not sure right now if it has a breather ... it's not in front of me.  I just know it looked different.

I am looking on eBay to try and figure out which tank is which... anybody know?

In the meantime I'm bidding on another tank, I'll hang onto this one... and pass it on.
