Anyone tried one of these seat covers?
« on: January 21, 2013, 07:10:07 AM »
Has anyone bought one of these covers or, better yet, have photos
of one installed? The seller said he doesn't have other photos which makes
me a little leery:

I got a Cafe'sque seat that fit on the stock pan for my 76 CB550.  It's good not great.  You get what you pay for I think when it comes to seats.  I paid over three times as much for a Corbin seat for my F and feel like that one will last the life of the bike.  The ones from hondaclassic31 are a short term, decent looking, accurate fitting seat.  Got in within three weeks.  Haven't ridden on it yet so can't speak to comfort.
Overall a decent seat for the money but not up to stock specs or Corbin or probably a local upholsterer.

Thanks for the info. That's pretty much what I was thinking. I think I'll just keep my ratty seat for now and put some real money down on a final seat from a quality maker.

I got this one about a year ago and I'm real happy with it. The guy's in Canada so it took awhile to get it but it looks really good. He makes all kinds of replacement seat covers.

If you have patience there is another guy on there that regularly sells. His stuff is stock patterned and comes with a replacement seat strap he advertises as not to be used like original.

I have his seat on mine and it was great quality. I also got lucky and caught his on sale for 25$.

Thats an ad for the later bikes but I got one for a 76, just search the seller's store. It fits good, no weird lumps or wrinkles. The little smoothing foam it comes with is nice for the imperfections of 35 yr old foam

I have one of hondaclassic31's seat cover and foam.  I think I was one of the lucky ones to get a decent one and not an issue with shipping.  I have read many other folks that have had shipping issues, wrong seat sent, couldn't get the issue worked out...    It's not all that comfy either.  I get monkey butt with it.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

This is one of their covers on a 1969 CL450.  I cut the foam from an old 750 seat.

Seems OK

Same.  Great quality.  Perfect, snug fit, good instructions and the vinyl seems to be of great quality but can't speak to it's durability as of yet.
