Hello from a newbie with a few questions
« on: July 15, 2006, 08:31:15 PM »
Hello all,
I just bought a '76 cb400f that was a Katrina victim, which I am going to resurrect. (Actually the frame and various other bits are hanging in the shed now letting the paint harden. Of course, I am planning on doing the bike as a cafe racer, kind of... (you'll have to wait for the completed photos...) However, I have at least one burning question at the moment. Does anyone have any experience with installing the bronze swingarm bushings? I am looking for feedback from others who have actually done this install. I have heard that these bushings are very soft and easy to crush. Mine are due to arrive Monday morning. (along with the clip-ons that I ordered that are 6mm too large... let's see if I can shim them or if I have to send them back.) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all. Terry.

I have attached a pick of various bits nearly ready for paint. If you think it looks bad now, you should have seen it when I started. This bike flooded during Katrina and was a bit... rusty. The motor I am using however, came from another project that did not flood.

Welcome to the site Terry, It won't take you too long to realize that we're kinda getting a fair share of "Terry's". I think you might be the first one with a 400 though. I know that we have Terry of Australia (mainly 750) and cb650, who's also a "Terry" with, of course, a 650 and I think there's at least one more, maybe two. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what you're going to do with that 400.  Later on, Bill
