'75 rearsets
« on: January 23, 2013, 07:12:44 AM »
I've done some searching on this topic but can't find a direct answer.  Are Omar's or Tarozzi's a direct bolt on on a '75 k model?  If so will they work with the kick starter?  The only info I found was on a '77 and they were not bolt on, needed some modifying, and also blocked the kick starter part way.  I also notice that when you buy Tarozzi's you specify drum or disc rear brake.  Is upgrading to a rear disc something I need to seriously consider?  If so, I'd rather do that first before ordering rearsets so that I get the correct ones.

Which bike are you talking about?  550?  750?

No problem.  I have Tarozzi's on my 550, so I probably won't be much help.  As I recall, the 750F had a rear disc brake...that's probably the reason there is an option for that listed.  Not sure what would be involved in that kind of modification, although I'm sure there are people here who have done it.  The rear wheel/hub would most certainly need to be switched out and then there would probably be some modifying of the rear frame to accommodate the reservoir and associated hardware.  I would imagine it would be quite the project.  Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

I will suggest, though, that you check out www.fastfromthepast.com for rearsets.  That's where I got mine and if I recall correctly, they were a bit cheaper there (under $300).  Also, the guy who runs that business was rather helpful to me when I had questions about what to order...

Good luck!

Thank you for your response!  I have checked out that website and I will give him a call.  The rear disc brake sounds like a major pain.  Probably better off going with dual front discs (or beefing up the one) vs. the rear.  In emergency situations I've only locked up the rear brake quickly anyway.  The front was the only thing that did any actual stopping.  Not on this bike, but I'm sure it's the same story.

I'll looking forward to more info.... Looking at some for my 73 750.... Seems odd that the K3 is left off every set on the fastfromthepast site....
