350f Gaskets
« on: February 04, 2013, 11:41:50 AM »
Who makes the best bang for the buck engine kit for the 350f? I'm sure the dealer would be the highest quality, but I hate paying dealer prices. Are the ones on flea-Bay worth a squat or is there a supplier you guys prefer? I was hoping to wait till the weather got a bit too hot to ride to pull the engine but it appears as though the leaks have worsened quite a bit in just the last few rides.

When it comes to the CB400F/CB350F do not, I repeat, no not chance NE Brand gasket/seal kits. You will develop a head gasket leak.

If you search for CB350F or CB400F head gasket leak on this forum, you'll see what I mean.

I'm dealing with the 'it won't happen to me' consequences right now: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=51957.msg1322662#msg1322662

Stick with OEM head gasket and rubber seals.

Thanks for the advise, I'm good with dealer pricing for a couple of gaskets if it saves me from doing it all over in a few months.
Since you've gone down this road, do you think it's easier to pull the head and jugs off in the bike then the crankcase or just pull it as a whole and tear it down in the bench?

Gumby,

I've got my head off in the frame at the moment replacing the gasket and seal, but if you're going to split the cases anyway then I'm make a jig and take it out in one piece and do it on the bench. Way easier.

Rick.
