1973 K3 Chainguard
« on: January 24, 2013, 05:40:42 AM »
Does anyone know if a K3's chainguard is metal or plastic?
And, where is the best place to get one at?
Thanks,
Brian

Metal and the best place is here or E-bay probably.  If you find a nice uncracked and pretty plastic one love it and cherish it and sell it to a guy with a K1.

I do believe that my early K3 has a plastic chainguard on it. A Buddy of mine in Texas just purchased a K3 without a chainguard and he is trying to find one, and his supplier said that K3's were metal, and I told my Buddy mine was plastic. i will double check tonight when I get home. So, what would a CB750 plastic chainguard in nice shape bring me $$ wise guys? And what should I expect to pay for a metal one?

Metal started in 1972 so doubt there would be any overlap way up to 73.I have bought the metal ones for as cheap as 15-20 bucks that needed a refurb, not sure what a nice plastic one will go for since I have not looked for awhile but am sure E-bay completed would show a current value range in todays market.  When shopping you should be good to go with a metal one from 72-76 for the K bike. One more side note the plastic earlier ones actually have different spacing for the bolt holes than the later metal ones.

I have a 73 guard I was about to put up on ebay.  Let me know if you want to see some pics and if you are interested in it you can make me an offer.
