Front forks sorted
« on: January 22, 2013, 11:37:27 PM »
What a great site! Having to move house meant putting my K2 restoration on hold for a year. I finally got back into it recently and she is now ready for rego. Worried sick when the front wheel pointed one way and the rest of the front end another. A minute and a half on this site and I followed the link - bingo - adjusted forks as suggested, took her around the block and she's straight as! Thanks to all! Slug

Retro I got my pipes through Pud, the 750/4 Club 'Mr Fixit' in Yarram Victoria. They sound a bit like originals with the baffles removed, though it was 1974 when I last removed K2 baffles! They come painted or chromed depending on what you want - or, I had mine specially painted with a heat proof treatment in Castlemaine Vic where they do chrome look and paint for a lot of hotrod manifolds and pipes. From memory the set of four cost me around $900 AUS. Regards, Slug

Good morning to you Slug:

Great job.  I like how clean it turned out.  Good choice in color.  Is that an early 72? or 71?  Stickman

I believe it's a 72 Stickman and I understand the wrong color for a K2. First 750/4 I ever saw when they launched was green. By the time I ordered mine, green wasn't an option so I ended up with a gold K2.
This one was a rough but very original silver bike - factory tool kit and original manual hadn't been touched in their storage compartment for a very long time. I painted it myself to save dollars, and I am no painter. I'm happy with the color but stuffed up the tank stripes with a few wrinkles when I put them on. It looks a lot better in the photos than in real life and there's heaps of cosmetic things I can sort out while riding it. The wheels are stuffed, lots of nuts and bolts should be replaced with new ones, most chrome bits are pitted etc.. The idea was to ride it and do those jobs over time and as I can afford them. Slug.
