I like outdoor paint booths, the lighting is usually very good, no better ventilation , no filters to change... best used in spring, no bugs.

Snowed this morning, sun came out around 3, temp up to 45+, left work and clear coated that tank. It's drying now, but there will be pics tomorrow if the sun is still up when I get home.

hey rb weather has sucked here too. Been snowing for a week, getting tired of winter and have a growing jones to get riding. Look forward to seeing the progress.

CD, This has been a long nasty winter for allot of us. I see those southern boys riding and have to ask myself, is it worth being in the northeast during winter?
I sold a Suzuki 700 a couple weeks ago, but I did take it out for a last ride even though it was 25 degrees, that cured the ache to be riding in cool weather for a while . I normally don't go out until the sanded roads have been swept or rained clean. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
It's been too cold to be wrenching in the shop for a while but , the weather man says 50's this weekend.
Things are looking up. Perhaps spring will arrive.

I really ,really wanted a bomber tank , but this is close enough for me.
I took other pics but they didn't come out, I'm sure as things progress that there will be more pics.
The seat should arrive this week.

Momo, not as minty on the bottom up by the head-pitted, one cracked weld otherwise solid, but not as minty as I would have liked.
Rafster, the panels are polished tank, color surrounding the panel, and many coats of clear coat over both. One of the sidecovers is crap and I'm looking for replacement so I can shoot them the tank color at the same time.
Matt thanks, the air filters aren't stock, can't get them anymore but can rebuild the old filter plates by removing the corrugated paper filter and gluing foam in it's place. Just easier to replace them with these .
Do you think that this machine needs side covers ? I was thinking perhaps I could just delete them,must have been looking at it for too long, does it look unfinished this way?

Rb hard for me tell if it needs sidecovers or not without the seat on it need it to get a better idea. The bike looks good most things looks orignal so I would probally go with the sidecovers put the seat on and drink a glass of wine and really look at it.

Found a picture of a decent Honda seat in NH on CL, owner didn't know what it fit, it looked 450 to me so I bought it. The mailman just dropped it off. Took it out of the box and it looks like a perfect fit ( didn't come with a hinge ,have a spare around the shop somewhere) I'm real excited , almost wet my draws. Gonna calm down and install it tonight. Found a seller in SC with a couple of nice side covers sent him a check today, can hardly wait! Gonna paint them like the tank, real excited , getting damp , gotta go.

While" in search of" mode, I've stumbled across 3 750's for 1 low low price. I'll pick them up this week. I haven't done 750s yet , but I ran into a 750 chopper project last summer that I snubbed, I'm thinking that I will revisit the 750 chopper since the 450, 550, and 650's have almost dried up around here . I have been unable to warm up to 750 s in the past, but then again, it took a while to get all hot and bothered by the 450, but it's growing on me now.
Haven't seen these 3 yet ,if I fail to get into the mood , I'm sure there is enough members here that can use parts.

I think once you have a 750, you'll like it. My first SOHC was a 550F and really liked it but on the highway felt like I needed a bigger bike (I previously had a Kaw 1000).
Sold the 550 and bought a K4 and love it. But then missed the 550 and bought one (four, actually) and I like havongvthe choice of what bike I'll ride any particular day.

I kind of have the same feeling for the 750's I don't dislike them if I ever come across a good deal on one I would give it a try. I like the smaller bikes the 550 they are nice and I guess when I want something bigger I hop on the Yamaha Vmax the daily driver and smile my ass off.

Side covers came in today , very happy, it's the highlight of my week so far, had a rough week, got to get back into the shop to clear my head and loose some of this hostility , Been shot at and missed but sh1t at and hit all week , may be time to fire up a couple of machines and go for a ride, that would help.

Hang in there and enjoy some bike therapy.

Some video games can help blow off steam if you are into those. Good way to release stress if you are over 18...

Fired up most of the road bikes yesterday , did couple miles on each, that felt pretty good. Have a few more to fire up this week, so far it's been in the mid 40's to high 50's temperature wise , so short rides is still the way to go.
I was bumming from an unbelievably sh1tty week ,but, the rides sure helped allot. My head isn't on straight enough to finish up that 450 this week (residual BS) but I'm so looking forward to getting out in that shop. When the smoke settles and some stuff gets done there will be more pics.
I have been looking inside of the 450 tank ,not as clean as I remember it, I'm thinking that I want to use electrolysis this time, I used the Works, the vinegar(didn't like that), but I did see that another member had done it with a tank load of water , a 10 amp charger , a bolt inside a plastic funnel....haven't tried that yet, think I'll give 'er a go.

You will need some Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (not baking soda) to help the electrolysis along and do it where the hydrogen generated can escape safely. Going boom isn't usually a good thing and is detrimental to your tank.
You will have to clean the electrode fairly often to get good surface exposed.

I've read through every post regarding electrolysis that I could find last night, I should be able to give it a go next week, still not ready yet.
Did pick up 3 750's today, one is very rebuildable, the second is seized and will take some work, and the 3rd one is just crap. I never do 750's, not my bag, but the price was right. Who knows, maybe I'll find a pair of big boy pants and find that the 750 is something that I just can't live without or maybe they'll just be parts for someone else's machine. Time will tell.
