Southern California Ortega hwy ride?
« on: January 30, 2013, 12:28:17 AM »
I'm going to so-cal for a week, thinking of renting a bike and riding the Ortega highway from San Juan Capistrano to Lake Elsinore. Anyone ride there before? Any other ideas while I'm there? Staying in Carlsbad and Ontario

Been there in a car several times. Breathtaking scenery.
Can you say curves? :)....Lots of casualties on there as I understand it. Be careful, alert, and enjoy 8). If I wasn't so broke, it'd be on my bucket list for sure (on my 750). Be sure to stop at "the lookout"..
In San Clemente nearby, check out San Clemente Cafe' for a good
breakfast. jim in St. Louis..

We did the Highway but in the renta car. Our schedule got full and we needed to cover a lot of miles that day. It's on my bucket list to go back on a bike. there were enough plastic pieces on the shoulder to build a busa fairing or two. It is beautiful and a fun ride even in a hyundai.
