Tail light won't burn with the key in the run position
« on: March 18, 2013, 11:46:48 AM »
This is actually on one of my 350 Twins but I know the wiring is basically the same for the early 70s bikes. The tail light will only burn in the second key position, not in the first (run) position. I've tried multiple tail lights and even a different ignition switch. On a, possibly, related note, the light I'm trying to run has an extra wire, three, vs. two.  Yes, this is my first post. I will happily introduce myself. I'm Trace, live in beautiful western NC and my current projects are two 71 350 twins, basically done, and just starting on a 79 cb650z. Cheers.

North or south west NC? Welcome to the form. This will be moved but there will be plenty of help in the other bikes forum or where ever it ends up.
What colors are the wires on the NEW light and did it come with a print?

If there is a three position headlight switch, it will be off if the headlight is off. E.I headlight switch has OFF - LOW - HIGh

I have the same problem on my 400, so I'm interested in the solution.

it means the wire from the keyswitch to the tail light is fine, but the brown/white in the bucket may have come undone. Do the clocks light up?
