where to buy oil pump seals?
« on: February 03, 2013, 01:06:48 AM »
anyone have a source for the 2 oil pump cover o-rings (46 x 2mm)? The 2 large ones that seal the 2 covers on each side of the rotors.

Jerry, I am looking too as I want to dismantle my pump soon and check out problems.

I believe I found some at McMaster-Carr  (a great place for lots of stuff).

Now tell me if this is correct:  by  46x2 mm  we mean an oring with  a 46 mm outside diameter  and a thickness of  2 mm?

McMaster Carr goes by inside diameter and thickness, so we would subtract 2 mm twice and look up 42x2.

Further I believe we want it in Viton?

If this info is correct on my part, they have a pack of 10 of them for
$14.75   (1263K122 )

I am at:  http://www.mcmaster.com/#metric-o-rings/=lbg6pq

which also has others commonly used by SOHC people.  (the common 15x2.5 thus shows up there as 10x2.5 going by ID)

Spot on John. I was looking at the same part a day or so ago. About tp place yet another order for those, as well as the the common 15x2.5's.

The Viton fluoroelastomer double seals are particularly good in some applications. I am using them for the rubber nickels under the cam towers. They feature an X shaped cross section which seals even better than a square o ring.
Part# 6540K168 Not sure why the (factory) nickels have a center. Maybe to prevent squish out of the  seal, so i'm reinforcing the center with punched out silicone just in case.

I purchased both the 46x2mm o-rings and the 11x3x15mm oil seal from my local Honda dealer.  The oil seal is part number 91208-300-003 or #912080MN1-771; the GL1000 Gold Wing oil pump uses the same seal (courtesy of HM).

Sorry, it's a FO CB750 motor. Wasn't real sure on the diameter (inside or outside) , got the size (46x2mm) from Hondaman's book. I got the seal number from the book, also. Do you know the Honda part number for the 46x2 orings? Would really like to order  both from one vendor, I've been spending a small fortune on shipping charges.

That was easy  :)  Shaft seal and 2 o-rings. Call your local Honda and have him add to his order. You'll pay retail but no shipping. That's the best way for small orders.

Awesome. Thanks for the help. My oil pump is the last thing I need to rebuild on my motor. Waiting on my new camshaft to be delivered, and the motor rebuild/upgrade will be done! Then, there's just the rest of the bike. lol
