Low beam is fine, High beam is dead (CB750K6)
« on: February 04, 2013, 02:27:53 PM »
Hey there all,

I can't seem to find a similar problem with the search function, so here goes.  My high beam is completely dead.  Low beam works fine, but click to high and it's just dead.  Bike is a CB750K6, with a stock headlamp, no mods of any kind on the headlamp (as far as I know).

Back story: I had some trouble with the headlight when I was out riding.  I'd flicked to high, but it was dead, and when I flicked back to low, it was dead too!   Fiddling with it on the road, the low beam came back to life.  Fuses are OK, battery fully charged.

I figured the switch was just old and dirty, so I took the housing apart and cleaned all the contacts with electrical contact cleaner until it was all clear of corrosion (there was some) and nice and shiny.   Now the low beam works, even when I toggle high/low, but still the high beam is dead as a doornail.

Seen this before?  Or perhaps have any tips on how to locate the source of the problem?

Thanks in advance SOHC'ers, you're always so helpful!  :D

Oh I see.. of course.. why wouldn't I have done that already?

I guess I figured the whole thing would die at once, and it'd be odd that the high beam would burn out since I never use the thing.

But of course I should check that.  It's likely the problem - always something dead simple when I make a post about it..

Will pull it and check it out.   Thanks!
