I am deferring to the many other mechanics here that would know more about my truck than I do.
Trouble code= p0740  Torque converter clutch code.
symptoms= not locking up in overdrive and the new symptom today was not shifting properly.  It goes from a red light but it does not shift to 2 unless i let off the throttle and violently goose it.  Then it shifts.
I know what the code means and I know my way around a vehicle.  It's mud season here and I'm not going swimming until I know what to look for.
What am I looking at here?  Any ideas?
"Sure, if you don't want that bike in your backyard, I guess I'll take it."  "I'll probably just scrap it......"

Some of your shift solenoids are EXTERNAL on the body of the tranny and others are mounted internally behind the filter. You'll have to check your manual to find out which solenoid is going out or maybe ask a DODGE mech which solenoid it could be and where it is???  If it's internal you can count on , a filter and about 6 QTS of fluid + the cost of the solenoid..
Hope this helped some!!!
