Wiring Dime City Reg/Rect. CB750
« on: January 31, 2013, 08:20:23 AM »
Has anyone wired the above mentioned solid state unit into the CB750? I received the unit, but no instructions :-/ It appears to be slightly different than the one supplied by Ricks.

Here are the outputs on the Reg/rect:

3 yellows
Green
Red
Black
White

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Seth

3 yellows                     ... go to the 3 yellows coming from the Alternator stator, inside the stock multipin plug on the stock harness. They were connected to the stock Rectifier.

Red                              ... to the battery + red wire

The following three wires break out of the stock harness together, and were connected to the stock metal can regulator:

Green                          ...to the green wire coming from the ground side of the Field Coil winding. (This must also be grounded, or you get no field coil current&no alternator output.)
Black                           ...to the black wire from the key switch (Hot when key switch on), (provides hot for regulator, and field coil control voltage)
White                          ...to the Alternator Field coil positive side. This is your control voltage to the Field Coil.

AFAIK there is no ground contact at the alternator field coil. Therefore, the green wires must all be ground in the unmodified Factory harness.
