the speedbleeder I bought is part# SB10125-SS. its an M10 x 1.25 thread and its stainless steel. it was around $10 I think. bought it on ebay. fits in perfectly. the hex head is 11mm though, kind of throws off the whole 8,10,12,14 thing going on with these bikes.

Didn't get too much done this weekend. Took some time to seal the tank, and putting the new fork seals in wasn't too much fun either. Here's some more picks of the wiring. I still need to make a mount for the gauges and toggle switches I'm using for headlight and kill switch. Decided to get wild on the tachometer but I think it suits the bike. The speedo is a mini with all the dummy lights, the blinker light in the speedo is hooked up as a shift light.  Will get some more pics on saturday.

The reg/rec is hidden in the seat compartment, thats where the battery will live too.

ok, so... I have the cycle x power arc ignition kit hooked up. I got the whole kit just didn't come with the plugs. Right now I have just the NGK resistor type plug caps and the wires that came in the kit. Do I also need resistor plugs? I have NGK D8EA do I need DR8EA?

On the cycle X site it says "You must use resistor spark plugs & wires in any vehicle that uses electronic ignitions or on-board computer systems to monitor or control engine performance. This is because resistor spark plugs & wires reduce (EMI) electromagnetic interference with on-board electronics."

It doesn't mention caps, I just assumed if you had the resistor caps you didn't need resistor plugs.

With the electronic ignition you are probably gonna need newer style suppression type wires. They should have advised you about it. I believe you can run regular plugs, just gotta get the spiral core suppression type wires. They will have a resistance per foot that you need to run with the ignition.

Cyclex usually is pretty good about clearing stuff like that up, give them a call. The resistor version of the d8ea that fits our bikes is the      dpr8ea plug, it is NGK. Probably other sources but that is the one I know

Hey thanks for that info. I have the wires that came with with whole kit and they are suppression type, and resistor caps on them. I'll give cycle x a call to make sure about  the plugs.

Awesome, I used to live in the heights on palisade ave. Do you have something you're working on now?

Bike is getting close to being done... for now. I'm trying to get it running right, I've gotta take a look at the ignition again this weekend and pull the carbs back apart and clean them out. Still need tires and wheels need to be done.

I'm thinking about cutting the back of the seat bump on a radius like this but Im not sure yet.

For your ignition, when you go thru it, check the thread out I made. It even has pictures too ha
It highlights major/minor issues you could encounter

Also check to make sure your advance comes all the way in by like 2500 ish. Worn springs it comes on too early and makes funny stuff happen

No airbox on there will make it run funny too. IDK what you intend on running but tune with those on. From your build thread I get you are smart enough to get to that, just figured I'd mention it

Hey thanks, good info on your thread. I'm running the whole cycle x optical kit, it eliminates the advance. I got it running pretty good today, tore the carbs back apart. Turns out on of the float valves was in upside down so that plug was getting soaked and not firing, and another carb had the float level off a bit. After those fixes it fired right up. Seems ok with the resistor plugs, wire, And caps... Kinda feels overkill, but I'll run it for a bit and see how it goes.  I have to order some Uni foam for these cool old filters I have.  Ill post a pick soon.

You want some built in resistance to the system because of the combustion chamber design. The resistance slows the burn for the chamber design. If you dig through old threads in the search function and FAQ there is a lot there

The other factor is the ignition system resistance, what it is designed for. A lot goes in to it but you are probably fine for now. Time will tell

The idle was set a little high here, but here's a quick video of it running. Also heres one of the filter housings im going to use, the foam in them was dry rotted, so im going to put some red uni foam in there.

Just a couple pics from the other day. Had to break the carbs down to clean them and mocked up my air filters housings. I need to order some uni foam to put in them.

So does that air filter housing cover all four carbs?  Or do you have two of them and doing a 2x2 thing?  By the way, been following your build since you made it, I absolutely love it.  Keep coming with the updates!

Thanks! It's actually two pieces. I'll get a pic if both on this weekend.

Bike looks great.  Do you happen to have the part number for the Lynx Filters?  How do they mount to the carbs?

Thanks
Scott

I'll take a look at them on saturday for any model numbers. They mount with rubber boots similar to  any other filter. Here's a link to their website with all the different types they have currently. http://www.lynxcorp.com.au/shopping/default.asp?keywords=ramflo&group=ALL

Finished up the gauge mounts and headlight. The old bucket I put a bunch of work into  reshaping it to fit the way I wanted, but in the end I hated it. So I decided to do this..

Got a set of Hella Black Magic 500 lamps, and welded up a simple mount for it. I have the left over lamp still in the box and could make another bracket if anyone is interested.

Zuehl, I'm still totally digging this project.  You have not done a thing wrong yet and I'm liking the gauges and headlight.  Is there any special tricks getting that Autometer tach to play with the cb's wasted spark ignition?

Thanks man! I'm running the powerarc ignition from cycle X, it actually has a wire for an electric tach hookup so its pretty easy. Other than hooking up that tach trigger wire and grounding it, you just have to clip two wires coming from the tach noted in the autometer instructions to make it work with a 4 cycl configuration. Then just power it up for the light. I have mine hooked up for a shift light too, the one that came with it was huge so I hooked the shift light wires up to the blinker dummy light in the speedometer since im not running blinkers, kinda cool.
