Taking apart CB400F right hand controls.
« on: February 09, 2013, 05:23:40 PM »
Hi all,

I'm trying to rebuild my right hand controls, but currently I have only taken the top half clam of the assembly, the lower part is still held on by the throttle assembly, now here's the point:

How do I the throttle assembly off? It seems, or at least to me it seems that throttle is holding everything, and if I could disassemble it I could also have the needed leverage to snake out the wiring and clean the bottom clam before painting it.

As of right now, my controls look like this:

The throttle is not holding it the wiring thru the handlebars is! Taking the throttle off will give a little but you need some pull from the wiring harness. I take it the other end terminates in the headlight bucket

You need to loosen the throttle cables up to get enough slack to remove the throttle. There is some adjustment on the cable near the throttle and some near the carbs
