Anders just came back from 3000 mile trip with me to North Carlina and I know he had more miles on the bike before that. He is running the upgraded alternator on his K8 750. The bike ran great the whole time. No issues so far with  the upgrade. The real advantage will come with the colder weather and the ability to run heated grips, heated jacket etc without running out of juice.

cheers
Andy

Any updates on the road testing guys? I have a feeling I am going to need something like this for my 550 later this year...

He's been focusing heavily on getting the 750 model made available to everyone but will be working on the 550 down the road. A few of us, local-to-him, 550 guys have donated and offered up parts for him to use in order to get the proper fitment.

Will it fit a cb650? :D

It's doubtful that the system he's making will be a direct bolt-on for the 650. I'm almost certain there would be some R&D involved similar to what's gone into the 750 and 550 models.

I can actually come up with a rotor, stator, and cover if it helps I the rotor and stator are dead but they may work for mock up.

Thanks for the info Crush. I had read that the 550's were down the list. It's also fun to see something so cool come along!

Anders, I'm not local to you but if you need a 550 tester on the West Coast when you get to them let me know!

      Hi Retro Rocket,
It look like the kit will be $625.00 puls shipping. I have over 3500 miles on one and it works great.

I finally installed this kit and it works as advertised. The bike revs very sharply and reads 13.5 at a low, lumpy idle. Mint!

I saw 14.42 @ 3000RPM. With that mechanical tach that is probably around 2800.

Yes. It includes a H4 headlight and a Wego A/F meter as well. It is the balls and it completely bypasses the harness. Direct power from the reg/rec to the battery...a total of 5 wires. Simple, simple, simple. No field coil BS etc. ;D

Time to get cracking on the 550 version. By the time you're done a should just about be able to afford it.

I finally got around to install the alternator kit on My K7 for testing. I did take some photos

[imghttp://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff278/Anders288/CB750%20ALT/010.jpg]http://[/img]

That looks pretty sweet...  is this the current build? It looks like you have a brand new grommet for the wires? Is this included in the kit?
