Hey Cal, I wonder if GV would be willing to let Anders borrow one of his 550s.

Yup! I'm roughly 7.5 hours away but I have my 73' CB500 and my 78' CB550 that both are in running order.

Anders,

Am I going to have to put my 550 back together and ship it up the East Coast so that the guys can get a kit?  ;D

I may be tempted just to say that my bike has the very first Ander's Machining 550 Alternator Upgrade...

Hope all is well buddy. Talk to you soon.

I seriously would. It's not a joke... but my 75 cafe project which is the only one I could spare right now isn't finished as far as wiring goes. It runs and everything but it's not done. The regulator and rectifier are solid state and aren't wired in yet. I also have no time to finish it right now. If anders wants a roller that runs and wants to engineer the charging system with what I have, it's his to experiment with. I would eventually need it back, and I can't fund the project other than lending a building platform. (Cuz I'm broke right now.)

Also, it's probably a minimum of 325mi to NH from here. So I would have to figure out scheduling for delivery.

Maybe if someone from here lives between us and wants to run a relay service for the greater good we could do that.

Maybe if someone from here lives between us and wants to run a relay service for the greater good we could do that.

I'm in NJ and headed up that way in August. If you're serious and Anders wants/needs a 550 I will be passing through NH on 95 and in the Portland, ME area for a bit so could could most likely make this happen.

I also might be interested in a 750 kit. Any idea when there will be another run of them or if enough are on the list yet?

You should definitely PM him.  He's been asking for a 550 to measure for a long time.  NOTE: he sometimes takes a little time to respond depending on how active he is on the forum.

I'll likely be up that way for 3-4 weeks, and may be back that way later in the year or in the spring. Relatives have a lake house up that way so I sometimes make a few trips. Whether it happens is up to Anders and Steve but if it is to be, I would be happy to facilitate transport of a 550 to somewhere in the Portsmouth/Conway/Portland area.

I have an extra running 550 like I said but it's not stock so I don't know if it will work for R&D. I would assume he wants a bone stock 550. This one has solid state reg/rec, and a lithium battery that is only good for starting a well tuned bike. All the electronics are removed except for head, tail, and brake light. Offer is still on the table if I get an upgraded charging system for my daily ridden 550 out of the deal (obviously paying for materials).

I can still transport a 550 north to Anders in August.

Also I'd like a 750 kit, if there's any word on availability?
