I was just looking at cycle X 20amp kit for $500, this sounds WAY better.
Yup. Anders has done good on it.

My kit will run on a dead battery the stock system discharges at idle.
Needs battery voltage to start charging. I will be 70 this year so have  no intentions
       of pushing my CB anywhere.

CycleX now has new rubber grommets for the stator wires and field coil wires (though there is no field coil with Anders kit).

So, you guys don't want these things to propagate? You are out buying rubbers?
Or, in the British sense of the word...
So, what did the case ever do to you that you need a rubber to correct the mistake?

After losing about 20-25 pounds since January I can push my bike much easier here in the desert but it is mostly flat where I live, the elevation changes but not as dramatically another parts of town...
I still wouldn't want to push the bike very far and I'm 10 years younger than you Anders... With my current pain levels I don't know if I want to see 65 much less 70.

Too bad I can no longer afford one of these kits for a 550...
It would be very nice to have that capability for the 550 on long trips.
I would imagine Mooshie would like some more voltage and current for Dash. My 78 CX500 is going to have a 330W stator when I finish it's refresh and upgrade...too bad I am not dropping a 650 motor in the bike at the same time... That would be a nice addition.

Welcome aboard the forum Liam

I sent Anders a pm to check in here to let you know the status of the kits. I'm about an hour away from his shop and was there a year ago but haven't been in contact with him since. He had some almost ready then, just needed to find some more of the large starter gears(from behind the
rotor, used and is part of the core you have to send in) in the alternator cover to mill them to fit the lighter stator rotors. He will let you know what the current status is though.
In the meantime,  start a thread in the new members section to introduce yourself and your bike (pictures are good) to get your post count up to the minimum to be able to send pm to him(I think there is a 5 post count minimum required).

My K5 last fall here in NH.

I was close to upgrade to this better charging system. My CB750 K6 ran fin as it was back then. And bike had got lots of $$$ goodies.

Last rides last year in November on very dark roads gave me a reason for better headlight.
I did not see much in total darkness that ate my headlight.

I searched for auxilary lamps and had to spend much time to find lamps with lower wattage to match stock 13A charging system.
30W on top of H4 40W LED is only +10W stock Honda H4 HI 60W.

Small auxilary LED lamps of 15W each will not help as much as 60W or 90W LED light each that really need a better charging system.
