Mt. Evans 7/22
« on: July 17, 2006, 08:54:09 PM »
Paul,
Would it be possible to meet up at your place on Saturday?  I have no problem with meeting at my house, but I think your location would be more convenient overall, plus we could ride through Deer Creek Canyon on the way out.

If not your house, then maybe somewhere down in that part of town?  What's your thoughts?

Heffay, you up for it?  Haven't heard much from you lately.

Gordon,
That would be great. I went through Evergreen last weekend past echo lake and through Idaho Springs up through Rollingsville down Boulder canyon and back home. It was about a 140 mile ride. I think that would be a great ride up deer creek. I dont think I'm makeing it to Ouray this year for my jeep gathering.

Jerry

Paul is in Littleton, and Deer Creek Canyon is just south of C-470 and runs west and then north to 74.  We'd then take 74 to 103 (Squaw Pass Rd) which heads out west towards Mt. Evans.  We could then either backtrack or continue on through Idaho Springs and take 6 into Golden.

Okay, old Bob talked me into it.  Let's meet up in Morrison instead, Deer Creek is probably going to be mobbed with bicycles anyway, and that's a really nice ride heading west from there.

Jerry, what time could you be in Morrison?  We'll just plan to meet at whatever time you can get there.  I'll figure out the exact location and post it soon.

After a liitle thought, there will be no set location to meet.  Morrison is a small town, so whoever arrives first will just stop on the side of the main road (Morrison Rd.) and the rest of us will stop when we see you.  Hell, you could be at one end of the town, look down the road, and see the other end of town!

So let's plan on meeting sometime around 11am, on Morrison Rd, in Morrison.

Hope to see some of you folks tomorrow night for the Rusted Nuts meeting!  If not, then Saturday. ;D

How is the Morrison Rd exit labeled? I usually just get on 470 and go for it.

Morrison is marked also with speedway sign for bandikrap.  If someone is early the first right in morrison to go to red rocks first street from main drag has a old timey fire engine.  There is also dinosaur tracks too a couple miles down.
FYI sun honda has a vintage upstairs with 4 750 sohcs and 2 cbxs plus a cx500 turbo.  Other stuff to.
Funny though someone listed the CBX's as  on/off road. HA!!!

Excellent !!  Who's in ????

The only definite afirmitives I've had are from you and Paul.  Other possibles include Mad Dog (Mark), Bob (who you met last ride), Elizabeth (Geoff's girlfriend and one of the few female members of the Rusted Nuts), and John G. (one of my bosses at work).

I'll see if I can round up a few more at tonight's Nuts meeting at the 404.

Just got some important info from Linda:

Apparently there is a bike race up Mt. Evans tomorrow morning.  Go figure! >:(
Hopefully this shouldn't affect our plans too much, though, because the road re-opens at 1pm on Saturday.  I'm thinking if we just hang out in Morrison for a little while, maybe have lunch before the ride rather than after, we should be fine.

So the plan still stands, 11am on Morrison Rd.

See you there! ;D

Gordon,

I may be running a little late. I have your phone # and will call if I am running behind. I may have a mssion to run to pick up some main jets from the dealer here for Hondaman right after my daughters baseball game. Game will be over at 9 so that will give me 2 hours to make it by 11. Should take about 1 hour once I hit I-25. Lunch and a beer sounds good too !!
