Think I'll book a cruise..
« on: February 14, 2013, 12:56:41 PM »
On Carnival Cruise Line!  ::)

Yeah, right. What a mess not to mention the bungling by the Company. $500 to pee in a can and eat cold food? Oh, and the pleasent atmosphere of stench.

It's getting worse by the hour.

My wife likes to cruise but I told her I would feel like a caged animal trapped on a boat.She cruises I buy bikes,fair trade. Do  feel sorry for those trapped folks though.

No effing way you could get me on one of those overstuffed, disease ridden cans.
Pretty much goes for aeroplanes too, I am waiting for Scotty to beam me where I need to go.

I went on 1 cruise years ago, never again. My buddy was on that ship last month, he's lucky he didn't get stranded.

It will be interesting if Carnival gets off with handing out a free ticket and $500 .. unless there's some waiver folks signed. Come to think of it though I think there is some obscure maritime law that limits liability. Never had a yen to go one one those.

The media seems to be having a field day on this one.  It's all CNN can talk about today.  I think their looking for the pissed off crowd.  And their finding them.

 What I don't understand is what these people expect.  Do they think Carnival planned the fire?  They couldn't remove them from the ship safely, and nothing else could have been done differently about anything else.
Go metric, every inch of the way!

So, it will take 5 hours to get all the passengers off the ship, then a 7 hour bus ride to Texas. More fun

Why in #$%* would anyone in their right mind want to get stuck on a boat with 4000 people, it's a boat they catch fire, have collisions, sink, do other stupid things, does it make better that you've got + like minded idiots? I really suppose the only plus is that it could drown 4000+ of the idle rich at once. I am not against people cruises but it would be a magnitude of difference hopping on a cargo steamer and a going from port to port as a couple or may be 12 or so but any thing above that is stupid, have I ever mentioned how I think that a lot of the activities of the modern world are nothing more than a series of cluster #$%*s, grumble,  grumble,  grumble ::) .

Trying to pass my corporal curmudgeon exams, although I think that people increasingly want to be herded together the fear of doing something out side the flock or herd has increased visibly from the 50's on. I suppose governments, like sheep better than people.

I always l;iked the spartan accomodations on the back deck of the Alask Marine Hiway. Used to be you pitched a tent and drank beer for days, but now they outlawed public consumption on the back deck so nothing really changed except it's in styrofoam cups and discrete as can be.

They used to offer unlimitid ride ticket in the winter for $500 and that was like rent. I went all over the friggin' place several times that year.
