Anyone used K&N Air/Fuel Ratio Monitor?
« on: February 11, 2013, 09:03:50 am »
I'm about to add a K&N 85-2441 Round Air/Fuel Ratio to my cart but I would like to know that it is going to work before I do so. http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=85-2441
It doesn't say anything about motorcycles on the K&N page but I swear I've read somewhere that you can use this on a bike.
How does it install and does it have to be permanent?
If you guys have a better solution let me know. I'd prefer something that I can put in temporarily, run tests, make changes and then take it out.

I just did a quick search for "motorcycle air fuel monitors" and found a lot of options. I'd still like to know what you guys think.

You can see links to my bikes below to know what I'll be using it on.

Thanks guys. Good to know.
Do you guys leave them in permanently?

I have one of the K&N units on my turbocharged Z1.  I bought it 5-6 years ago when the choices were limited.  It helped a ton to diagnose a carburation lean spot, but having to look down at the readout isn't ideal...  in fact it's downright scary...

I will be upgrading to one of these AEM gauges - they are wide-band and have data logging - and have a dual readout with boost AND air/fuel.

I will probably permanently mount this gauge to my bike, but I have a bung plug that would allow me to remove the sensor and plug the hole.

Perfect! Thanks. Great idea on plugging the hole.

The bung-plug should be carefully measured to form a smooth and level inside surface for best exhaust flow. Do not use leaded fuel if you leave the sensor in place.
