2013 Imola 200
« on: February 11, 2013, 04:48:29 AM »
Well, for all whom might be interested, the event has been moved from October to April, hence it's now a sort of classic - euro - endurance season opener, dates are officially 19-21 april.

Our national endurance series is going to be run together with it and i am really tempted to enter my GPZ750 under Italian rulebook allowing up to 83' bikes.  Anyone interested? Be warned, bike is set up for my 6'4" frame :)

I'm interested but am much smaller (therefore faster). I have helmet, leathers and boots but lack airplane ticket! Seriously though, you should do it. How many opportunities will you have to do this classic, not many I'd wager. Do it now while you have the bike, the energy and the will to win. The memories alone will be worth it. Uh....we need pics of this beast!

Well Kemp, although i dont plan to hang my leathers so soon, I agree that's it's a once a year occasion and we dont get younger, are we.

This has become an option for me only because i am building a new type of race bike for my 2013 solo racing and pensioning the Gpz even if it's still quite fresh.

main issue with a 4 hour race is cost. even if I take a low key approach of just participating, I'd need a 2nd rider that can cover a large portion of the expenses, helpers that you need to give a place to sleep and feed, rent pits, maybe even have a 3rd rider, etc. i am supplying the race ready bike and my fine riding after all.... :) Then add tires, fuel, spares.... Planning on contacting some people that did last year to get an idea of what they spent overall.

Could be interesting to hear from whoever has done a big endurance event about end to end costs.

here it is in a shot from last year. though if i decide to "endurance it" i will surely fit a fairing.

guess i am not the only one caught by surprise, or maybe all the established teams knew it was being switched to April? not a lot of time indeed, maybe even too late to a certain degree.

where you planning to run any of your bikes in imola? I am in the strange situation where economically it'd be easier for me to supply the bike and look for a team, rather than pay to ride someone's else or sort of ;)

PM sent, anyway

Hi Yossef,
I have been caught out previously with the Bol d'Or moving from April to October so I know how you feel.
We were not planning on Imola as we are involved with the Classic TT this year (and I am developing the Kwacka for 2014).
Now that said maybe we can help, we certainly have all the equipment (quick full rigs. Pit comms, team members, etc).
Will drop you a PM.

Not just NickO....

though it could be interesting to share the planned costs for such a high profile race like the 4 hours Imola Endurance just in case you were considering it.

Registration for one team - includes compulsory garage rent - 1200 euro
Fuel - qualifying + 4 hours of racing - 150 liters - 300 euro (assume super premium 100 octane)
Tires - 3 sets - qualifying + race 1 + race 2 = 1000 euro (2 sets if doing it on the cheap? )
Feeding 5-6 people for 3 days - 500 euro (sleeping in garage/truck/ tent)
oil/pads/misc/dog food/lycra clad umbrella girls - 300

Total 3300 euro for a 2 to 3 riders team.

Scary to say the least...

Scary but a LOT of fun...!

If you break this cost down and split this across 3 days and then share the cost it becomes palatable... Just

Drop me an email Yossef.

Hi TG.I'm Ceasre and I live in Forlì near Imola (about 30km). If you need help for sleeping place you're welcome. I went to the first edition of 200 miglia classic in 2010 with a Laverda 750 and I hope to go this year with a 500framed honda / 740cc. So let me know if you need something. ciao

Hi zaier and welcome to HiPo

Thanks for the offering, it could help at least some of us. Take into account that we could be up to 6 people.... :)

Do you race with the FMI or just do track days?
