Topic: Check valve in 78 cb550k master cylinder??

I'm rebuilding my MC with Honda part 45530-404-315. Looking at my clymers manual (page 142) it shows a check valve (item 7) as the first part to go into the cylinder bore.

This check valve wasn't there when I disassembled and is not part of the rebuild kit. I assume that it is not needed for my 78 cb550k?

I think that part was not used after 1976.
