Seat Lock for 78 cb750k
« on: February 14, 2013, 05:40:56 AM »
I need a seat lock for my 78 750K.  I have the lock body but no cylinder inside. I have looked at a few on Ebay and they all are without a key.  A lock without a key is not much good.  So, I either need to find one with a key or find out how to get a key made if I buy one from Ebay.

Or, if anybody here has seat lock for a 77/78 with a key I would be interested in buying it.

The lock cylinder can be disassembled and the locking pins removed. Once reassembled it functions like the fuel door latch in that any key (or small flat tool) will open it. I've done my 750 K8 this way.

Ah hah!  That's what I wuz really lookin for.  It doesn't need to be locked up like a vault.  It just needs to latch and then be released when needed.  Thanks!

Or you can make a new key, not that difficult:

Any Honda dealer should be able to make you a key, I lost mine and brought them the ignition and they were able to get it the first try, no codes on it at all.  From what they told me there weren't many key combinations for this bike.

My brother is a Honda mechanic at our local dealer and he said the same thing.  I guess I should talk to him more often.  :-[

If it is the same as the ignition, get the numbers of it and get them on eBay.   I paid 6 bucks each

The lock is off of a different bike.  So I'll have to get a key made.  But thanks anyway.
