help please... maxiumum laden weight of a cb400f
« on: February 14, 2013, 03:44:31 AM »
Hi Guys,

Ive moved to france and am in the process of registering (getting a title) for my cb400f under whats called a 'carte grise collection', which basically means i dont have to get a certificate of conformity from a dealership (lots of $$$ and possible fail..), and i can get the classic style silver on black french numberplates.

So im doing this through the french federation of classic vehicles and they need lots of info to help get me. Ive got most of what i need to cant find ANYWHERE that tells the maximum load for a cb400f. basically what the max weight of rider/passenger/luggage can be. my current uk registration is blank under that section and any specs i look up on the internet leave it blank.

so..... any french members know this by any chance? or does anyone happen to have this info?

merci beaucoup for any help :)

As I haved lived in France for the last fifty years or so, maybe I can help. The "carte gris" for my CB350 F has no empty wt. nor fully loaded wt. indicated. The CG for my RE Bullet gives both and the difference is 185kg. Sooo ..... fill in the blank with 180kg plus the dry wt. (around 170kg for a 400f) and everyone will surely be happy. That is if anyone even looks that close. It's my experence in the land of bureaucratic BS, that if there is a blank something must be entered there but it doesn't much matter what. If I can help in any other way let know. I'm in the AriƩge. Cheers, Dave.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the reply, i will search my soul and decide on a weight.. around 350kg seems reasonable.

Yeah the french do love a form, and a stamp, and proof of address, and bank details in a specific format.. it goes on!

im down in Nice working in Monaco, only been here about 5 months but everythings seems to be going well so far. Moving from Englands not a big stretch though really. Just dont have a garage unfortunately!
