Forum rookie as well as bike building rookie
« on: February 10, 2013, 08:54:43 PM »
So, first of all, I just wanted to say thanks for having me here and I have already sucked up quite a bit of knowledge just clicking around. I have been on motorcycles since I was a little kid, but I just bought my first street legal bike. A 1975 CB550. Seemed like a pretty good deal so, I jumped at it. Any advice, tips tricks or any general knowledge would be greatly appreciated! I'm looking for a good aftermarket tail light to clean up the look a bit, possibly with integrated turn signals? Anyone have any advice?

There are a bunch of options for stop/brake lights out there. Just find one that you like.  Personally I'd stay away from integrated turn signals.  Beware of flasher issues when using or mixing LED lighting.

Happy Shopping!

Nice 550 and welcome to the site. If you are in milwaukee I'm a few minutes west of you in waukesha. What are your plans for the bike? Is that a double up seat?

Great! Another Milwaukee boy and fellow 550 owner! We'll have to get together at rockerbox. Welcome to the forum.

Hey thanks guys! @tews that is a doubke up seat...you want it?  :P I'm in the process of puting some new bearings in the steer tube and  fabbing up a new bracket for my gauges. Slapping some clubmans on it and wiring it up through the inside of the bars. I might have to go through the carbs a bit cuz one of the float bowls is sticking. Gunna clean up the rear end with new lights. Ummm new fork ears, took of the gators and put on some dust boots. @sixth sounds like a plan!

I'm good on the king queen seat, thanks for the offer though! You already have the clubland? If not I have a set of dunstall clip ons I will sell you for 40 bucks. Same look kinda. I posted a pic on the forsale thread. Also if you want today your own seat you could always use your seat pan from the KQ seat.

Sixth wisconsin is a stand up guy. My group of buddies have met up with him past 2 yrs for rockerbox. Good times
