What's then best wheel tire combo for the 750?
« on: February 15, 2013, 06:01:12 AM »
I'm working on the wheels for the 750
I'll start from scrtach using then existing hubs.
What is the best combo of aftermarket wheels and tires?
Should I stay with the stock size or should I increase the width?

What style of bike and type of riding do you plan to do?

I like a 120 or 130mm wide tire on the back of my 750's and the stock rims are fine as long as in good, non rusted cond.
Spend a little extra and get SS spokes from Buch's.

I planed on doing some semi aggressive city and highway ridding
The rear rim is pitted and in need of replacement, I would really like some aluminum or magnesium wheels as they would be lighter.
Since I'm doing that I was wondering if getting wider rims will help in getting a better tire choice
(more selection)

Good thread here about the rims vs tires.

After reading it I decided for 100/90-19 front, 120/90-18 rear.

Personally, I would go WM3 front and WM4 rear rims with 100/90 front tyre and 120/90 rear
130 is a bit too wide on stock rim and the center wears too quick (130 wears out faster than a 120 on same rim)

K7-8 has a wider rear rim than the earlier models. OP still has not posted what model bike he has or size rim he will use.
