Hello everyone. Been lurking about for the past few weeks doing some general preliminary research n' what-not. I've really enjoyed all of the project and picture threads too so I figured I'd sign up and introduce myself and post up a few pictures as i get ready to roll up my sleeves and get started on my project.
No PO to blame this time...It was my dads bike and shortly after he passed I drove it into the shed, parked it, and there it's sat ignored and neglected ever since while I was pretty much just too busy letting my life spin out of control and plummeting down the rabbit hole.
And here it is, pretty much exactly as it's been sitting for the past 10+ years. The front tire was locked so just to wrestle it out and roll it across the yard I had to remove the caliper. You can see it's still hanging by the fluid line cause it's pretty rusty and I didn't have much room to maneuver. Aside from that the only thing I've done is applied a liberal dosage of lubricant to every bolt and moving part I could see as I gave it a quick once over to assess the condition.
Haven't had a chance to give it a thorough going over but All things considered it's held up pretty well. definitely some rust around to be addressed. The seat appears to have taken the brunt of the neglect visually, the paint still looks pretty good from what i can see beneath all the dirt and grime. Missing one of the side panels but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find it in the shed. Turns over smooth as ever with a kick. I did drain all of the fuel before I parked it, a quick look into the tank doesn't seem to be too bad. The throttle and carbs are pretty sticky but not frozen by any means..even just a quick shot of lubricant and a few turns of the throttle/choke it's moving much more smoothly. Don't think I'll have much trouble gettin' em out and cleaned up which is pretty much my first plan of action along with cleaning the tank and changing the fluids and plugs and the basic stuff.
Looking forward to finally getting it back on the road. Any comments, advice or suggestions are welcome and will be appreciated.
